ABOUT US

Mike put his desire to have a musical career on hold at a young age to raise a family. Once his children (Jamie and Michael) were out of high school, Mike decided to form a family band. Mike instilled a passion for music in his children from a very young age and encouraged them to pursue their talents. Formed in 2006, Three Bean Soup is currently made up of Mike Domulot, his daughter Jamie Weis, his son Michael J. Phillips, Julie Wood and Mike (Mikey) Phillips. They have been entertaining audiences, traveling, and playing throughout the gulf coast at a number of different venues, festivals and events for the past 12 years.  While Mike and Jamie have been the long-standing backbone of Three Bean Soup since it's inception in 2006, they've had many members who are, or have become family to them. Over the years, Three Bean Soup has acquired an abundance of fans and friends throughout the gulf coast of Florida and Alabama, many of whom make it a priority to see them perform when they are in their area. They are extremely attuned to each other musically and believe that working and playing together brings and keeps them closer as a family. They love to have fun on stage and getting the crowd involved. Their hope is not only that people watch and listen, but that they feel as if they are an extension of Three Bean Soup as well because they wouldn’t be where they are without the fans that support them. Their goal is to touch people, put smiles on their faces, and get them to have as much fun as they do.

INFLUENCES

Three Bean Soup specializes in putting their own spin on an eclectic mix of Folk, Rock, Country, Blues and Contemporary Pop spanning from the 60’s to current day hits… a little bit of everything! Influences include: Traveling by Night, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, John Mayer, Stephen Bishop, Alison Krauss, Colin Hay, Norah Jones, Blues Traveler, Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry, Taylor Swift, Hall and Oates, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Keb Mo, Styx, Sonny and Cher, Martha’s Trouble and many more.

HOW DID WE COME UP WITH OUR NAME?

The name "Three Bean Soup" comes from a soup that Mike's mother, Jamie's grandmother, used to make when Mike was growing up. He comes from a family of 10 so this was a meal that was served often to feed their large family. You can even find the recipe for Three Bean Soup here on our website!

WHAT IS OUR FAVORITE PART OF BEING A MUSICIAN?

Mike- "The excitement."

Jamie- "The freedom of getting to be endlessly creative every day. To be able to have the dream job we always wanted, and it’s all thanks to my dad for all his hard work and sacrifices to make this band what it is today. We don’t fit the cookie cutter image of the average cover band because we’re constantly changing and growing. We’re unique in our own way. We never play the same set-list everyday, and I never play the same violin riff I played the day before. Everything is on the spot."

Julie- "The joy of doing what I love and being able to touch someone and bring out different emotions in people with whatever it is I’m singing. And now I’m lucky enough to do that with people that I respect, love and consider family... that’s actually the best part, being allowed to share this experience with two of my favorite people in the world."

KIND WORDS FROM WONDERFUL FRIENDS

"You and your Dad have had an impact on my life that nobody will ever know. I can't describe what happened, but I was in a place in my life that was personally really tough for me and when I saw you guys for the first time last summer at Scully's something inside me came alive. It might be because I have daughters and it touches me to see the two of you together. Sing and play forever. You guys are a light in this world." -Ty McCall
